While a lot of the focus of Akumal is on the sea turtles, another important program has been functioning in pro of educating and outreach about how to preserve this ecosystem.
Why CEA?
Volunteering with CEA gives you new expectations, new goals, and objectives, you gain new knowledge and experiences, it is learning more about the care and protection of the environment. Increase your knowledge and put it into practice.
What activities did you do?
Beach cleaning, town cleaning, working with children and educating about caring for the environment, puppet theater, holding festivals.
Thoughts on the experience?
Working with the CEA has been a very nice experience, I have acquired new skills that I did not know I had, I learned more about the conservation of nature in a sustainable way. It has given me the opportunity to put my knowledge into practice.

What activities did you do?
Within the Environmental Education program, the following are carried out: beach clean-ups, town clean-ups, we interact with kindergarten and primary school children in which they are given talks about the reef, water care, and wildlife, among other things.
Thoughts on the experience
The experience I have had at the CEA has been really very interesting, full of new experiences.

Because it is an opportunity to learn and support the conservation of the socio-ecosystem of Akumal.
What activities did you do?
Environmental education activities included making didactic materials, participating in puppet plays, and giving talks to children. I also participated in beach cleanups and logistical support in the recycling program Akumal Cero.
Thoughts on the experience
It is always a lot of fun and very rewarding to work with children. The CEA staff is very friendly and fosters a good work environment. There are also many recreational activities and places to visit to take advantage of free time.
