CEA's the First in the Maya Riviera to Use New Internet Technology

In the Spring of 2000 CEA began exploring new website technologies. Realizing that the Internet presented a tremendous opportunity to enhance communications with the outside world, we knew we needed to have direct control over the content on our website.

Through Lydia Linton Pontius, our Media Producer, we were introduced to a small company in Charleston, South Carolina that was engaged in developing exactly what we needed. The company's name is Ulanji and Lydia's husband Mike is its Chief Operating Officer.

Thanks to Ulanji, and their generous donations of time, talent and software, CEA's website is now a model of communications efficiency. Utilizing Ulanji's N-jine version 3.6 we are able to add and change pages, text and images at will, and without knowing much about HTML code. What's more, the website can be changed by staff here in Mexico as well as by those in the US, or from anywhere we can get access to the Internet.

We have seen an enormous increase in the number of visits to our site. Our daily visits have gone from an average of 58 a day to averaging 180 in less than a year. That is going from 1800 a month to well over 4000. It is exciting to see the number of people who drop by The CEA Center and say they have found us on the internet. Plus we are now able to update our information on a daily basis if necessary as well as stay in touch with our members and supporters with our new CEA Electronic Newsletter.
