Monitoring of juvenile turtles took place in Akumal Bay this past June. We monitored 13 juvenile Green Turtles (Chelonia mydas). The monitoring consisted of measuring the length of the shell (LCC) and the width of the shell (ACC). A blood sample, that is going to be analyzed to determine the state of health of the turtle, was obtained from each of them. This research is headed by Master of Science Fernando Muñoz Tenería, of the Faculty of Superior Studies in Cuautitlan that belongs to UNAM (Universidad Autónoma de México).
We thank the people who supported and helped us capture and monitor the juvenile turtles this month: M.V.Z. Ana Negrete, Roberto Herrera Pavón, Aristóteles Molina, Arturo Stransky, Alexander Reiss, Rodrigo Marroquín, Kyla Booher, Alma Boada, Mariana Isunza, Beatriz Sabori, Minerva Yacer, and all the fishermen for lending us their boats.
